Activity Catalog Tool (A.C.T.)
A.C.T. v2.0b
The Activity Catalog Tool (A.C.T.) is a unique Macintosh® computer program designed for those who are interested in analyzing and understanding human behavior. Whether observing human activity in a natural setting or usability lab, or studying pre-recorded video tape, the highly intuitive interface allows users to track and record events and activities as they unfold over time.

A.C.T. was designed by two human factors experts, a fact reflected by both its powerful functionality and its intuitive interface. Drs. Leon Segal and Anthony Andre, co-founders of Interface Analysis Associates, designed this tool for use in their broad fields of work: from analyzing pilot performance in the cockpit, through the analysis of computer workstations, to the evaluation of consumer products and graphical user interfaces. At present, A.C.T. is being used in over 250 industries, research institutions, universities and usability labs around the world.

A.C.T. interface
The A.C.T. program provides instant, real-time statistical analysis of the observed sequence, including such measures as frequency of occurrence, duration of activity, time between occurrences, and probabilities of transitions between activities. A.C.T. automatically creates a data-log file that provides a detailed description of all observations, as well as a further important statistical description of the concurrence of events and activities. To allow for multiple observers and/or multiple observations of a given video tape, data-log files can be merged and/or appended using simple post-processing functions.
